Happy 1st Birthday!

One year ago today, at 10:27 a.m., we first met you Rowe Catherine. You were so big, with the darkest eyes, and a head full of dark hair. I still remember how astonished I was at your beauty.

You are still so beautiful! You are about 21 lbs., moving into 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers, and WALKING. You took your first steps on July 24th, and really started traveling by foot last week. You still choose to crawl when you want to be fastest, but you can make it a long way by foot. You also have four teeth now, three on bottom and one on top. You are sleeping much better at night, and drinking whole milk, and will probably switch to just sippy cups very soon. You are also ready to move past baby food for the most part.

 This month you went to your first movie, Planes Fire and Rescue. You cried in the hall for the first 15 minutes and then slept through the rest. You also went on an overnight trip to Atlanta with us. We went to Legoland and Ikea. You weren't all that interested in either, although I think you'll like a few of my Ikea buys in the future. You also were not a fan of the car ride. You slept during your regular nap times, but once that was done you cried...or screamed. Between your displeasure and brother's carsickness, I think we'll wait a little while before we make any major family road trips.

You are loving playing with anything that we use: phones, brushes, dishes, etc. You also love to push your cart and load a bag with goodies. A shopper in the making I think! You're great at emptying a drawer or cabinet. The best part is you are happy 95% of the time. If you start fussing, it usually means you're tired or hungry...or possibly want your way with something. You are a little strong willed as well.

Yesterday, we had a little birthday party for you. I think you greatly enjoyed it! Today, we went to church and then came home and relaxed. You were tired! You have had a blast playing with your new toys this afternoon. You have walked from one to another, jabbering and smiling the whole time! Tonight we went to eat in Decatur. I'm so glad we have you in our lives Rowe! I can't wait to watch you grow and learn, and see what God has in store for you!
