6 Month Photo Time

Rowe and I enjoyed a little bit of this nice afternoon out on the farm making pictures. I love meaningful locations and props for milestone pictures! The farm has been in our family for over 100 years, and the wooden highchair has been used by three generations of Rowes. I couldn't have asked for a better little subject today. Little hands, chubby cheeks, curling toes, crazy hair, sweet habits..... I'm in love with it all. Here she is, 6 months 6 days:

This is what she does when she gets tired, runs her hands through her hair. I'm so glad I could catch this little habit.

6 Months

  • 17 lbs.
  • 26 1/2 inches
  • eats every 3-4 hours, has cereal and a fruit or vegetable each day
  • sleeps for about four hours at a time at night, and takes 2-3 short naps each day
  • size 3 diapers
  • size 9 month clothes

Happy 6 months Rowe! This 1/2 a year has flown by like no other! You have enjoyed a lot of special firsts this month. You spent your first night away from home, in Nashville, at the end of January. Aunt Mandy, Maeleigh, and our family went to the circus there. We went up on Saturday, shopped a little, and then went to the circus on Sunday. You seemed to enjoy it all. You slept through most of the circus. I think all of the sights and sounds might have been a little overwhelming, so you just escaped into your peaceful place. Otherwise, you were eager to take it all in. You stayed in the church nursery for the first time. You have cried some and enjoyed it some, but overall it has been an easier transition than I expected. We had two big (to us) snowfalls. We took you out for pictures and to watch Brennan play a little. You celebrated your first Valentine's Day by going to Brennan's school party, taking Papa to lunch, and having Papa, Nonna, and Maeleigh over for supper. Maeleigh spent the night with us, and you loved her playing with you. On the 16th you helped me celebrate my birthday with lunch and dinner out. On your big day we went to Nonna and Papa's.

You are enjoying starting solid foods. So far you've tried pears, carrots, and apples. You have liked them all! You have also become happier and more satisfied during the day since starting them.  We ran errands one day this week, and you did not cry once. It was a fun morning together. You are so ready to be on the move. You constantly arch your back and try to wiggle away. You also arch your back, shake your head back and forth, kick your legs, and scream, when you don't like what's happening. The head part is to try to avoid having your paci put in and possibly becoming calm. You are MAD and want the world to know at those moments. Luckily, that doesn't happen too often. It's mostly when I'm trying to get you back to sleep. You have decided you really like the Jumperoo, especially if you have an audience. You really like constant attention the best.  You sat for a few minutes by yourself for the first time today (6 months 4 days), and have scooted yourself a little this week trying to get to Brennan's toy. You had your 6 month immunizations yesterday and they barely phased you. It is so much fun to watch you grow and change Rowe! You have been my sunshine on these winter days!

Snow Fun Day One

We woke up to 4 inches of snow this morning! It had been predicted for several days, but when I got up with Rowe at 2 a.m. there was nothing and I really thought they had missed it, so to wake up to a few inches was so exciting!

We started in the front yard with a plan to build a snowman. The snow wasn't packing well, so we took a few pictures and headed out back. Brennan was thrilled to get his gator out and running. He and Mike also found a saucer sled that they had a lot of fun with. After warming up, we walked around outside for a little while. Brennan spotted our neighbors outside and was eager to join their fun. They sledded down a perfect size hill just for them. We had an afternoon snack of snow cream. Later, we ventured out to the farm. We planned to visit my parents but ended up at my brother and sister-in-law's where the fun was happening. Brennan got to ride and drive a little Polaris ATV. He had a blast! The entire ride home he begged us to take him back and leave him. He fell asleep early, with hopes of more snow fun tomorrow.

I had to attempt a little photo session for Rowe's first snow. They didn't turn out to be what I was trying for exactly, but we had fun.

I thought I had at least 11 years before I had this experience! It was a fun little ride. I MIGHT have been bitten by the ATV bug. We spent a lot of time riding as kids, and it was fun to see Brennan having that same thrill.
